The Male Pelvic Floor

25 minutes
Beginner

Bring out the boys! Don’t run and hide – its time we talked about the male pelvic floor!
For all our male participants, hopefully this short video will help you understand the different types of pelvic floor muscle contractions and why they are so helpful and important.
For all our female participants – I think you will still find this interesting, but more importantly, show it to your husband, brother, father, son or male friend.  Understanding their pelvic floor can make a huge difference to their quality of life.
Depression and anxiety are huge problems in our society, and pelvic floor dysfunction in both men and women can greatly add to these issues.  Training the pelvic floor muscles can be easy and effective!
Did you know that 13% of all Australian men suffer with incontinence problems?  And did you know that above the age of 70, 30% of men suffer with incontinence issues.  That’s almost 1 in every 3 men.  This is a big statistic but very rarely rarely spoken about.  So hopefully this video will allow you to gain a better understandings of the basics of the male pelvic floor and hopefully make some real changes!
My kids were horrified when I made a giant poster of a penis and stuck it up on my wall!  But this just opened a door of conversation and communication about the male pelvic floor.  Now I’ve got them practising the exercises too (well, my boys that is, not my daughter!!… maybe a video about the female pelvic floor will have to come soon too….)  So I’m hoping this video is enlightening and may help some of you make some small changes to the way you think about your pelvic floor and improve your overall function.
